It will cut all woods, plastics and aluminum...far faster than you can use an axe. It is ideal for carpenters, campers and those who do pruning. The long folding handle is an asset as it covers the teeth (nasty) and provides safe extension away from hands. For backpackers its light weight cannot be beat. For 'survivalists' this saw is a must! I review tools I use and am over 13. 13 of 16 people found the following review helpful: By ColoradoWildMan (Colorado, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Coghlan's Sierra Saw (Sports) I have one of these that's branded by Walmart's Ozark Trail brand and this thing is simply amazing. I also have the Swedish-made Bahco Laplander folding saw and it even out saws the Bahco. At only 5 ounces this thing will cut poles and saplings for a shelter in no time and is also great for cutting firewood. I've cut logs up to a foot in diameter by sawing around them with this thing. One of these and a stout survival knife will save your hide in the wilderness for not a lot of weight). Use this saw to cut small logs\larger branches and use your survival knife to split pieces of the wood to get into the dry portion to start a fire (super important in the winter or wet cold weather when the wood is soaked on the outside and almost impossible to light without an existing fire). 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Coghlan's Sierra Saw (Sports) This saw rocks! I had been using a gerber gator III to some success but now that I have used this the gator is retired. I received it and went out and trimmed a few small branches and it went sooo fast I cut a 8 inch branch in less than a minute in the dark holding a flashlight in one hand. Easy. To be fair it was fairly soft green wood so I next cut a 2x4 in ~30 seconds then about 2 minutes to get through an 8" seasoned maple log (I could have done it faster but the log kept moving). Buy it you will not be sorry.Note: I now know what 5 stars is supposed to be so I doubt I will be giving them out anymore. |
